zetec 2012 head gasket blown-rebuild help

Featured Replies

HI,

My head gasket is blown and am trying to replace.

On my ford focus zebec.

I can not find the right timing setting tool and how to use it- I need help!

Do i set the timing tool up first then take the engine apart OR do it after?

What do I do once I replace the head gasket? Is that it or do I need to check pistons etc some how?

I could do this a step by step guide-- help!

On the timing  setting kit, the end of the crankshafts do not have a slit, so not the slit type of kit.

Kind regards

Mark

The timing should be set before taking the engine apart.

You don't say which engine it is though so I can't say which kit you need.

With respect, it doesn't sound like you have the appropriate knowledge or experience to be tackling a headgasket.  Do you know anyone that could help with it?

This is not a step by step guide but may be of some use with general info.  I don't think it's necessarily a straight swap, you need to check the surface on the head is level and hasn't warped - if it has then you would need an enginneering place to 'skim' it for you before re fitting the new gasket.  Tom is right though, having somebody with a bit of know how is invaluable if you haven't tackled one before.
