Hi there everyone I’m new to forum so would just like to say hi ... 

I have been a Vauxhall owner for the last 15 years so I think it was long overdue that I came back to ford as I used to have a mk1 focus 1.8 Zetec and I loved it only changed that car because I needed a bigger car and at the time the galaxy was out of my range so went for zafira.. then changed to astras because had a good deal .. anyway I am really excited that I have ordered myself a brand new 2019 focus st-line 1.5 EcoBlue diesel.. I have never owned a brand new car ... What I would like to know is I live in Birmingham and as we are all aware car theft is rife especially in the West Midlands so this is what worry’s me .. firstly I have brought a disklok and also 2 faraday key holders as very worried 😟... I have been reading on the net that ford have started introducing new tec to the keys which puts the key into sleep mode and they are saying that new fiestas and fiesta vans are now being delivered with the tec and that focus will start in may .. it is saying that if anybody has a older car ford dealer can also modify the keys for older car .. the cost is £65 for fiesta and £72 for focus plus 0.9 labour time to install .. So I was thinking I would only need 1 key done as I would put the other spare in a faraday pouch as that won’t be in use .. I phoned the salesman yesterday and he told me that I would need both keys done and that he won’t be able to tell me if my car has this tec on the key until Wednesday as they have requested the car from another ford franchise . Could anyone on here tell me if it’s a 2019 focus that it will come with the tec and is it possible just to do 1 key as I may never ever use the spare ... thanks..

Welcome, I can't see why 1 extra key of the new type would be an issue programming.what dealer are you using?

Have they not given you the vin number or build date? 

No I only ordered car Friday and they requested the car from other dealer and they said yes so I don’t really know how it works but i take it if the car is in say Aberdeen they need to get it to Tamworth .. all I know on my paper work is that it says a 2019 model .

I doubt it will have the later keys as far as I read it focus from may builds. So those builds won't arrive in UK for a few weeks yet. I'm surprised trutford didn't have what your looking for in stock unless it's not standard spec.

It was the colour . That I really wanted . It was desert island blue . Also the guy told me that because of brexit all of the car manufacturers are flooding the country with cars just in case there isn’t a deal and all the tariffs change so he said that the ports r bottle necking ? I don’t know if it’s salesman patter or true lol

Oh it's true enough. We are bursting at the seams where I work. Think we are over normal capacity by 1000 or so . Any bit of hard standing or grass is used up. Got up to 20 transporters a day arriving 

He did say he could of ordered me a new car off the lines but it could take between 3  to 6 months .. well that’s what they r telling customers just in case of problems.. 

I'd just use two pouches to be honest mate. Keep one at home in your keyless anti theft pouch and keep on with you. You can get small ones that clip on to your keyrings.
