mk2.5 shifter

Featured Replies

Anyone know where to get a quick throw shifter for the mk2.5? unless the ST version or other versions fit?

cheers, will that definitely fit the focus mk2.5?

It's for ib5 gearbox so it should.

Damn unless the mk1 has something different in the shifter area.

pftt most likely tbf, I find getting things for the mk2.5 quite a challenge, its like they've forgot about this model.. I find plenty of stuck for mk1, mk2 st/rs and then mk3s but hardly anything for mk2.5s

According to Etis my mk2.5 1.6 TDCI has a MTX-75 gearbox, you’re may be the same. Apparently same as some Mondeos. There’s a shorter gearstick available for that but not a quick shift.

Hmm, I'll have a look, cheers

I managed to find this so I do have the ib5 box, so might give the mk1 shifter a try

My take on this is that the 1.8 and 2.0 will use the Zetec-E and will be the more solid option. The 1.6 is the Zetec-SE which is a very different engine and there is nothing wrong with it but will not wear the miles that well. 300k miles are no problem for the Zetec-E with regular oil changes and ensuring the timing belt is changed as needed. The Zetec-E is the same engine that Ford used in the MK1 Focus RS which is in indication that it is very much designed for more power than in the standard forms.

Also most of the Zetec-E variants are supplied witth the more solid MTX75 gearbox whilst the 1.6 will come with the Fiesta grade IB5 gearbox.

Let me know how you get on and also check in the plastic box selector area for any leaks as fixing any leaks in there and topping with oil makes a massive difference to shifting from recent experience.
