Update - got car back yet again today to be told they hadn't fitted a wiring loom they fitted a new ECU? this thing must be costing Ford warranty more than a replacement car 🙂  not to see if the light stays off - fingers crossed

Been looking at alternative cars and have seen a Cooper S and a full JCW (£2000 more than the S) - test drive this weekend 🙂

A manufacturer only really knows the true cost of their vehicles once the warrant runs out (obviously not including potential future recalls).

Sorry to hear all this Rob, very disappointing, particularly as mine has (apart from the odd satnav glitch) been faultless so far. Can well understand you fancying a swap - must say I've found the Cooper S a pretty good drive (unlike the A1 you mentioned earlier in the thread).

Yep this car really is annoying - the last MK8 St-Line i had for 3 months had 2 replacement headlights (due to brackets snapping) but nothing else went wrong - should have kept that car instead of trading it for a MK7 Golf which was boring 😞

Well light has stayed off today so maybe this thing is finally fixed???????

I have personally concluded the "purpose" of the service department is to extract as much money out of customers as possible!

Hopefully, your problem has been fixed.  Never good when something goes wrong with a new car, no matter how minor!

Well had new replacement headlight fitted under warranty this week and dealer also had a go at the creaking drivers door window (when down slightly) - bit better but not perfect 😞
