Interior door panel repair

So I decided to repaint the interior plastic of my car doors as they had several scrapes. Unfortunately the paint that I used is starting to peel off. Is there any kind of protective coat I could apply to prevent this?

Thanks in advance.

Did you rub down and use a primer made for plastics

Rub down? I used a few coats of acrylic paint as a primer and spray paint for plastics.

I think it's coming off because the surface wasn't prepared properly.

you need to rub it down and use a primer that's made for plastic surfaces look on the likes of eBay or ask in a motor factor/paint supplier

If the plastic material of the door panel was previously cleaned/maintained with some silicon based product is is almost impossible to apply paint. The silicon prevents the paint from bonding properly to the surface of the plastic.

After a theft attempt my door panel did have several scratches caused by the broken glass. A specialist did try to repair the door panel but because the silcone products that were used by the dealership or previous owner invvisible repair was not possible. The repair products did simply not bond to properly to the plastic material of the door panel. At the end my Insurance approved to install a (very expensive) brand new door panel.

Can you clarify what you mean by "rub down"?

Rub down the old paint with finest grit sandpaper you can get hold of, best bet would be what is called the wet and dry type.
