Focus ST mk2.5 headlights / centre console changes in brightness

Featured Replies

hi,

I have noticed that when i accelerate and come fully off the accelerator with the headlights on, I get a change in dimness in the centre console lights and what also looks to be the headlights.

if i accelerate above the 2k mark and remove my foot, the radio centre console will briefly return to the brightness it would be at with the lights off, it also seems that my headlights pulse or flash when i do the same.

has anyone had a similar issue?

i have the face lift mk2.5 and couldn't find too much on this subject other than a pulsing Alternator? (unsure if that affects this model)

OR

Grounding issue (I have checked the one to the right of the battery and to the alternator.)

Could anyone shed some light on this and anything similar they have seen?

Could someone point me in the correct direction for all grounding points so i can clean them and remove that as an issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Halfords do a no obligation battery and alternator health check; maybe worth a visit before stripping the car for all the earth points

I reckon it's the altinator myself

Cheers mate I'll have to take it down and check. I've been thinking that either battery is too low or it's over charging at the 2k mark.

Or ground is loose
