Interior lighting help 2011 Mk3 Focus

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone,

First post on the forum so hoping I’m in the right place!

I got a query and could do with some help regarding lighting.

I had had recently purchased a 2011 mk3 Ford Focus Titanium. First easy job I wanted to do was upgrade all the interior lights.

So I bought myself some 501 bulbs, and when I went to fit them, the dome light has a black motherboard type looking thing over, so I’m not sure if it uses bulbs or LED strips.

When I went to change the footwell bulbs, same thing.. was an LED strip not a bulb.

Does anyone know if I can upgrade these in any way? Or am I just stuck with the factory lighting.

Even though these are LED.. I’m assuming all headlight and tail lights bulbs could be changed as any other car?

Thanks Anyone

I suspect the "bulbs" are actually SMD i.e. soldered to a circuitboard, typically the only way to replace them is to desolder the existing SMDs and solder the new ones on.
