Trip computer question...?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Everytime I fill the car up ... (I always put a full tank in, not £10 here and there. I leave it go down until the light comes on then I fill it back up) ... I always reset the trip computer so the stats like avg mpg, avg speed, round trip etc etc are back to 0.

Only a quick question to ask is this a pointless exercise I undertake, or shall I carry on resetting after every refuel?

Would like to hear your thoughts and whether you reset it every time, just like myself.

I reset every time.

Depends if you want to know tank averages or lifetime average...?  Personally I like to know tank averages so reset mine at each fill as well.

I reset every fill up, but the only thing I'm interested in is mileage covered since last fill up, to enable me to calculate accurate mpg.

Being a bit of an anorak....

I reset mine at service/oil change, but do run a spread sheet that gives tank mpg, overall mpg, cost per mile, miles per annum.......et al !

I reset trip 1 in very fill up and let trip 2 run currently trip 1 shows 46.3 mpg over 257 miles whilst trip 2 is showing 47.5 868 miles. Trip2 resets automatically after 1000 miles.
