FORD FOCUS 1L 2012 ECOBOOST TIMING BELT

Featured Replies

Hi. I am looking at buying a Ford Focus ecoboost with 63000 miles. I’ve been told that I’ll need a new timing belt for it but reading online it should last double this?  It’s. 2012 plate   New driver so any help would be great.

Timing belt interval is 150k miles or 10 years whichever comes first. When it needs doing it will be an expensive job as the time to do it is around 8 hrs plus the parts

As mentioned the timing belt lasts for 150k or 10 years. I would check that the car has had regular services ie oil change every 12500 miles if so it should be fine.

Will Ford pay the cost of damage if the timing belt snaps before the recommended time/mileage.

Somehow I doubt it.

Nope, it's a recommendation, not a "it will last" X amount of miles/ years.

Some garages have been using engine flush in these engines which will significantly reduce the lifespan of these wet belts.
