Output Shaft Speed Sensor Location?

Featured Replies

Hi. Hoping someone can help me. My missus has a 1.6 MK2 petrol with automatic transmission. Recently it's changing I'm high revs and has come up with a code for the output shaft Speed sensor. I've ordered a replacement but just wondering where exactly this sensor is located? Thanks

This video is US but should be similar concept.

I'd never order a replacement part if you don't know where it goes. Because if you don't know where it goes it means you have not checked what the fault is. For all you know it might be a dodgy connection.

eg. my sister's fiesta has a fault code on it saying that there is a fault with air intake temperature sensor, had a look, I could see a wire had broken away from the connector plug on the wiring loom so a new sensor would not have solved it.

Thanks for the video. I did have a look and can't see where he is talking about. There is a sensor right where the gearbox joins the engine but doesn't look like the one in this video. Also another sensor underneath the airbox near the gearbox fluid dip stick. Can't seem to find much information about the automatics

New sensor was under £10 so I ordered it as I've prime same day delivery. Rather fix the wiring if its bust and replace sensor if I can find which sensor it is lol. I'm just going off a code the OBD flagged up and really don't know much about the car. Not touched a ford since my 1.7 conversion and that was a manual. I'm a motorcycle mechanic by trade
