Boot unlocks when engine starts

Evening all, I have a similar issue with a 15 plate focus. When unlocking the doors it opens the boot. Or if you're in it and press the lock doors button, it opens the boot.

Very common fault, it should cost less that £15 to fix.

You need to replace the boot handle/button assembly. Loads of brand new ones to be found on eBay and it takes no more than 20 minutes to change.

Had this problem with ford fiesta titanium 2009.

looks like it's the boot handle switch for me.

replaced that in a couple of hours and it seems to have fixed it.

Topic is old, but I had the same problem with boot opening. It even opened when I pressed the brake or engaged in revers.

Everything occurred day after heavy rain.

The car is Cmax 2017..

Water somehow soaked the cable on the photo and then came in to the socket.

I dred everything and have lut some wd40.

So far so good. But still do not know how it happens.

Sorry for my Engrish 🙁

Does your car have a sunroof ? If yes then you need to check the drains aren't blocked.

Now't worse than water coming into a car....Ruddy nightmare.

No sunroof, only antenna.

Suspect in that case you have a leak with the rear screen wash pipe which runs through the head lining.

I don't know, maybe it would be a problem. But on the other side, it happened after all night rain, it was about 60liters on square meter. Didn't use rear wiper and washer at all that day.

I have a 2016 Ford Focus Titanium X.  I bought the car 3 months ago and recently I went to a garage to have the number plate lights upgraded to LED.  This didn't happen since I bought the wrong bulbs and they're already LED in there.  Since then I can lock the car using the double press function on the key fob, but when I come to the car later, unlock it and get in it and turn it on there's a message on the display to say the Luggage Compartment is open.  I am able to close the boot and not be able to force it open and when I press the locking mechanism from inside the car it locks the doors & boot.  I have swapped the key fob battery and the buttons but unable to switch the circuit board as the spare key went for a bath in the washing machine and hasn't worked since!!!  Anybody got any ideas on what could be happening here?  Also must add the boot lid also houses the reversing camera and there's no issues with that aspect of the boot lid.
