Michael P
It's odd. When you go over there and see the huge pick ups and 4x4s, you think nothing of it If you see them over here they're mahoosive!

ChrisZetecS
When I was growing up, we were constantly swapping our cars! Sometimes we'd have a car only a few weeks.. never owned one longer than a few months most of the time.. But seeing as this is a Ford forum two I should probably mention were my Mum's Cosworths! She had a highly tuned black Sierra Saphire Cosworth (the 4 door saloon one) which she wrote off one day goin to the hairdressers when she put her foot down on a slip road and lost it so she then went and bought a similar car but it was a colour similar to the sea Grey of the Mk7 and it was four wheel drive so she didn't crash it hahaha

They're strange to drive... Firstly it's an auto and I kept nearly hitting the brake with my left foot thinking it was the clutch... And as you life off the brake it moves, tap the 'gas' lightly and it shoots off... And it's damn huge!! I struggled to reverse it up the drive :P You ever been in one of the big-ish Walmarts? Lordy-loo ... they're fricking enormous! The one we went to in Miami had an entire aisle for Gatorade alone and sold M&M's in 1.1kg bags Yeah that's where we did our bi-weekly shops... It's huge... They even sell guns in there next to the childrens' toys!!!

On both occaisons I felt lost without a clutch pedal and kept slowing down because I kept trying to change gear lol.

I've only ever driven one, a Clio - not very nice to drive. I find the worst thing about them is the creep, just doesn't feel right that you have to restrain the car all the time otherwise it'll just drive off on its own! Which means you either have to put it in park which is like stirring cement or sit on the brakes which can't be good for them.

Worst thing for me though (more so in the Renault 5) was the small jolts when changing gear. Got a bit tiresome after 10 minutes! <_<
thesilverfox
I drove a 2.2i Chrysler PT Cruiser in the USA as an Auto. No problems at all. Other than the car never knowing which gear it wanted to be in and it was a complete POS.

Our apartment in Miami was on a corner of two roads, and was in a natural dip. We had some typical afternoon rain (it was knee deep inside 45 mins), and it totally flooded the PT Cruiser. I was over the moon! Phone the hire place and they sent out a replacement car B) Another PT Cruiser. Bar stewards.
