- Vauxhall Astra (mk3) 1.4.

- Citroen BX (phase 1) 1.9D.

- Peugeot 205 1.1.

- Nissan Primera (mk1) 2.0TD.

- Volkswagen Polo Saloon (mk1) 1.0.

- Peugeot 206 1.9D.

- Land Rover Series IIA 2.5D (restoration project).

- Renault Espace (phase 2) 2.0.

- Vauxhall Astra Estate (mk3) 1.7TD.

- Subaru Justy 1.2 4WD.

- Skoda Felicia 1.4.

- Honda Accord 1.8.

Most interesting ones my dad has had that I can remember:

2.5 V6 Jag X-type - that was when they had just come out... our's was the first one in peterborough :)

Saab 93 Aero - 210hp, auto, all the toys. Lovely, lovely car. Floaty and comfortable when you wanted and massively quick and planted when you needed!

It'll be interesting to see what everyone else's parents had!

Dad's had a ton of cars, but bust notable are:

Escort XR3i

Capri 2.8 is

Orion w/Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system

Mum's had an old G reg XR2 as well, which dad said was amazingly grippy and wouldn't lose grip when pushed exceedingly hard.

My family has probably had more bikes than cars by now.

Pretty cool! Please tell me that's some kind of BBQ attachment on the back? Like on Top Gear when they went to America.

My mum can't drive but she bought an old Mini Clubman to learn in and my dad had a terrible selection of cars...

What I can remember...

Austin Allegro X2

Austin Montego estate

Fiat Panda 1.0

An old massive mustard coloured V8 5dr Rover saloon

Skoda Favorit? (The worst car I have ever seen, he had it for 7 years)

VW Transporter T25 campervan - awesome

Honda Civic

It's odd. When you go over there and see the huge pick ups and 4x4s, you think nothing of it

If you see them over here they're mahoosive!

You ever been in one of the big-ish Walmarts? Lordy-loo ... they're fricking enormous! The one we went to in Miami had an entire aisle for Gatorade alone and sold M&M's in 1.1kg bags

When I was growing up, we were constantly swapping our cars! Sometimes we'd have a car only a few weeks.. never owned one longer than a few months most of the time.. But seeing as this is a Ford forum two I should probably mention were my Mum's Cosworths! She had a highly tuned black Sierra Saphire Cosworth (the 4 door saloon one) which she wrote off one day goin to the hairdressers when she put her foot down on a slip road and lost it  so she then went and bought a similar car but it was a colour similar to the sea Grey of the Mk7 and it was four wheel drive so she didn't crash it hahaha

They're strange to drive... Firstly it's an auto and I kept nearly hitting the brake with my left foot thinking it was the clutch... And as you life off the brake it moves, tap the 'gas' lightly and it shoots off...

And it's damn huge!! I struggled to reverse it up the drive :P

Yeah that's where we did our bi-weekly shops... It's huge... They even sell guns in there next to the childrens' toys!!!

I can't get along with Automatics, I think I'd have to own one to really get used to one. I've driven 2 ... A 1.4 Renault 5 and a 1.6 Vtec Honda Civic. On both occaisons I felt lost without a clutch pedal and kept slowing down because I kept trying to change gear lol.

I've only ever driven one, a Clio - not very nice to drive. I find the worst thing about them is the creep, just doesn't feel right that you have to restrain the car all the time otherwise it'll just drive off on its own! Which means you either have to put it in park which is like stirring cement or sit on the brakes which can't be good for them.

I can relate - it's quite surreal the first time you experience that.

Worst thing for me though (more so in the Renault 5) was the small jolts when changing gear. Got a bit tiresome after 10 minutes! <_<

I drove a 2.2i Chrysler PT Cruiser in the USA as an Auto. No problems at all.

Other than the car never knowing which gear it wanted to be in and it was a complete POS.

:D I hate PT Cruisers with a passion, especially in this country - hideous piece of mock American rubbish.

Our apartment in Miami was on a corner of two roads, and was in a natural dip. We had some typical afternoon rain (it was knee deep inside 45 mins), and it totally flooded the PT Cruiser. I was over the moon! Phone the hire place and they sent out a replacement car B)

Another PT Cruiser. Bar stewards.
