Hi all, I have a ford owners club halfords discount card and today when I went to use it the lady behind the till told me I need an app to use it, if I cannot use it their is no point having premium membership, thanks in advance liam 

Nonsense. Go back and ask to speak to manager. I use mine fine for last 4 years or so . They need to scan the card as a coupon, then ( the difficult bit for most of them) manually calculate 15% of the total and deduct that . Not rocket science. 

I blag the 15% off after using my Halfords trade card discount, then produce an e gift card i use to pay( i get with 8% off the face value) 

As above. Never had an issue with the card except sometimes the card reader can't read the card and they have to manually input the numbers.

No issues here either, last purchase was a dashcam and wiring kit and didn't bat an eyelid

Im in Ireland;

I loaned it to a work college last week to assist in his purchase of a roof storage box 

He saved almost €40 using the card and no issue atall, 

You don't need an app; she needs a calculator to adjust the payment the stupid James blunt

Works fine, its to be used as a coupon, most outlets have never seen one so you need to explain.

She probably fobbed you off because she didn't know what to do with the card.

 

I can officially promise you that the card is all you need and will never require any app to obtain the discount.

Thanks everyone, been in touch with the manager at halfords and they will give me the 15% back and their excuse was she was new but she should have asked someone how to do it, thanks again Liam
