Fiesta MK8 climate control problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys I’ve bought a 68 plate fiesta st-line x around 2 months ago. It’s a great car but the last 2 days I noticed that I don’t seem to be able to turn the climate control off. It just blows cold air in my face non stop but if I turn it up to warm then switch it off it continues to blow cold air at my feet or windscreen. Any ideas what it might be ?

To be honest I never turn mine off - what temp have you set it to, what happens with a/c on or off is fan speed high/low is recirculate on or off?

Hi Mark,  sorry for the obvious question but do you have it set to 'Auto' ?

It works as it should when it’s on all the buttons work but when I turn everything off it continues to blow cold air. The way I had it set up can change where the air is getting blown tho. For example I set it to windscreen and hot air and turn it off then it blows air at my feet but if I had the windscreen with cold air on then after turning off it blows air at me. Hopefully it’s just a faulty module that can be replaced under warranty but this is the unit I’ve got.

Also I never use the auto option.

So if you switch off with the button on the right it keeps going?

Yes. None of the light are illuminated and the thermostat is blank so it should be completely off but it isn’t just keeps on blowing cold air.

Doesn't sound right aye.

Yeah it’s weird but when the car is stationary I don’t notice anything only when I’m driving at higher speeds but I’ll check again when I finish work.

So the air it blows at you is never warm?  And it seems to only happen when you're driving?

If that's right then it doesn't sound like the fan is blowing (as it would if you had the cabin air recirculation button pressed) but rather the air is being allowed / forced in whilst driving.

Which sounds like an inlet somewhere isn't blocking it as it should.

According to the manual "when you switch the system off, outside air is prevented from entering your vehicle interior", so it does sound like something not closing properly.

Years ago, heating /ventilation operated very much on "ram air" effect (the old Ford "airflow" system first seen in the facelift Mk 1 Cortina was very effective), but nowadays they rely on the fan.
