I have a 2015 Ford Fiesta Black Edition and over the last 2 weeks I have been having some issues with my gearbox.

The best way to explain (or where the issue mostly occurs) is when stopping at a traffic light and put the handbrake on, when i go to put it into 1st it sometimes will not let me. It also does this with 2nd some of the time as well. I then need to pull off in 3rd but as soon as i pull off I can put it into 1st or 2nd, no problem. Nothing happens when I leave my foot on the clutch in neutral in terms of a stiff gear change.

This has happened around 6/7 times but a lot of the time I do not have an issue. This morning, when slowing down to go into 2nd i heard a big crunch. It happened twice and then stopped again.

Have done 40k and had the car nearly 3 years.

Any ideas what this may be? Thanks in advance

Synchros have gone.

This is a known issue on the 5 speed gearbox and the 140ps engine.

Take it to ford and explain the problem and that you know this is a common issue affecting this car. A search on the forums will show you there's a few posts like this.

Any idea of cost for this?

No idea, mine hasn't done it yet, instead my 3rd and reverse won't disengage.

I'd be tempted to push for some goodwill from Ford with it being a known issue and 4 years old. No harm in trying.
