Upgrade To ST

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I'm not really clued up on this and need an opinion.

Is it worth it/are there any pros or cons going from a 2017 first registered fiesta 1.4 duratec, with about 54 000km, to a 2013 first registered ST with like 80 000km for example (not that exact, just using as an example).

Thanks, as always.

Depends on what you want.

An ST will be more expensive to run in terms of insurance, tax, fuel and maintenance than your current car.

You know the history of your car, with a 6 year old used car, you don’t. With it being an ST, there’s a higher chance it has been “abused” a bit more.

The ST in everyday driving will be a bit less comfortable than a standard fiesta.

The ST will be much more fun. It will be much quicker.

it will also be better looking for many.

as I say, depends on what you want.

The insurance I know for sure will be more costly.

I'd really like to someday upgrade to an ST, so just trying to do a bit of research first before just jumping into something like that.

So what you're saying makes sense. It's something to think about.

The ST is a heart car, not a head car.

You get looks, handling, noise and smiles per gallon but at a greater financial expense and a rougher ride too.

Depending on your location it might also be worth thinking about security, the Fiesta ST is one of the most stolen cars in the UK!

Oh it has my heart for sure, everytime I see it around; but gets to my head when I think about the financials of it.

I'm from Cape Town, so the ST isn't the most stolen car. Possibly one of the least, as I never really hear about them being stolen. Maybe in Johannesburg yes, but not CPT. Most stolen cars here are VW's I'd say.

The VW GTI's are the ST's over here (popularity wise).
