2014 fiesta 1.0l ecoboost

Featured Replies

On the weekend my fiesta displayed a warning on the screen of low oil preasure

So tested it with diagnostic tool came up with a code of 2018 which is fuel air mixture wrong

Monday the engine cut out when driving got the rac out how told me my engine gone knackered            so now my car is scrap over last few days iv found out 6 other fiesta 1.0l ecoboost engines have blown up is this a comman fault on this type of engine

I have seen mention on this forum before of low oil pressure caused by oil strainer being blocked by granules of rubber which may or may not be fragments of rubber from the timing belt which runs in the oil. One showed photos of the blocked strainer with the rubber granules. Have not seen it mentioned many times. There are other more common problems. Eg rusty coolant pipes on turbo. And severe overheat damage occurring very quickly if there is a coolant leak before you are aware of the leak.

‘Blown up’ is a bit of a generic term. Seizure / damage by lack of oil and seizure / damage by overheating are very different things
