Oil presure

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a 2013 ford fiesta 1 litre ecoboost 125hp, recently the past couple mornings upon starting the engine a loud hissing/grinding sound has been occurring followed by 3 beeps, the sound would then go away after a few seconds and the car was normal with no warning lights or anything, I plugged the car in with my obd2 resided and the only code comming up was a u300f code which I couldn't get a clear defention as to what this was, however upon starting the car today the sound has got much worse and the car flashed up with engine oil presure low stop now and also the car is making a whine sound then driving, I have read some previous posts was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this? Is this my oil pump that has gone wrong maybe and if so how much is an oil pump replacement is it an expensive job? I'm hoping it is not

Check out this thread about low oil pressure in Ecoboost. Maybe you have the same problem.

So this could just be a presure switch gone wrong and not the accualy oil pump? I hope this is the case

I am sure I have seen a post on this or the focus forum showing a picture of the problem being oil strainer blocked by rubber granules ( from timing belt?). Of course it might not be your problem. But it could be. Every second the engine is running with low oil pressure it is suffering adverse wear to crankshaft main bearings and big ends and other parts.

Don't drive it until you or a garage has looked at cause of low oil pressure. Oil pump strainer is probably blocked.

Almost guaranteed to be a blocked pick up, it is fibres from the wet timing and oil pump belts.

Made worse by poor servicing and overheating.

Its concerning reading these posts and issues about the belt in oil on these ecoboosts, are other manufactures using this method ,  is it good is it bad ? , i suppose technology moves on  and service intervals change and lengthen.

Just curious about how do you know this ?
