Hello, i got my st like x with no options except the panam roof, i really regret not getting the decent lights. Ive been looking at getting the led headlights which cost around £330 a unit. Just wondering if any of you guys know if this will be plug and play kinda thing or will it be abit more deeper than that. I asked ford and they dont know.. cheers

Help

If you have regular halogen lights then it is more complicated than plug and play. Xenon lights are auto adjusting and need washers too. You'll not pass your MOT without these.

I've had bad experiences with cheap Xenon lamp (bulb) replacements. That's in addition to @Luke4efc 's comment about legality (and they're arguably unsafe as they can dazzle other road users. On the classic cars side I've heard good reports of proper LED conversions, that's not plug-in lamps with several SMEDs on a stick, that's whole headlight replacements with massive heat sinks etc.If you can get those they's be car-specific.

A Ford specialist but not dealer could probably fit the bits necessary to convert to Xenon and then change the settings in the ECU (you'd be looking at lamps with the ballasts, washer jets (and so possibly bumper) and ride height sensors (assuming the harness is in place). A really good quality lamp (I used to use Osram Nightbreaker) can get a better output that a lot of standard lamps, just don't be tempted by eBay seemingly cheap ones, as they'll likely be cheap imitations from China that are then no better than any other cheap lamps.

Anything that isn't factory fitted is technically illegal.   Not judging, just saying.

I would definitely recommend nightbreakers, you can really see the difference on my mk4 focus.

Not quite. The bulb needs tested & certified for the housing, which is an expensive process so it is currently and will remain very unlikely that you can find third party LED/HID upgrades that are technically road legal.

Dropping in the Ford LED headlamp unit into a car built with the halogen headlamp would be perfectly legal, as would third party ones if certified.

However, as long as it's a projector nobody will care until MOT time at least.
