Power steering motor

Featured Replies

My son recently bought a 2013 1 ltr fiesta eco boost. The power steering motor has packed up. A mechanic told him that replacements normally comd with the steering column attached. My other son bought a 2013 power steerkng motor off ebay. The mechanic has yet to look at the job but thinks it may be no good. Can anyone shed light on this problem?

I'd like to share with you the information I know about this issue, first of all , we have two main parts , the steering column ( which includes the motor ) , and the steering U joint shaft ( that connects the column with the steering rack ) , now the motor cannot be separated from the column , they are basically one unit.

For mk7 fiesta, you have two options, either you buy the complete set (the column which includes the motor + the shaft) as one part number, or you can buy the shaft alone as a single part.

For mk8 fiesta its a little different, you can buy the column ( plus motor of course ) alone as a single part, or you can buy the shaft as a single part.

this is how ford sells these parts, I don't know if there other sources or other manufacturers offer different configuration, hope this helps 🙂
