Loss of power, acceleration

Featured Replies

I have ford fiesta 1.25 2003. Started to lose power when going uphill and no acceleration when going to overtake.

I had found a split breather pipe but the problem stills persists after being replaced. When I press the accelerator now to pull away she revs bit doesn't move.

And these are the steps I have taken.

Replaced fuel filter and air filter. Full oil change. New coil, leads and spark plugs. Pcv valve is in working order and MAP sensor removed and cleaned. No other obvious signs of any leak but it does sound like there is some sort of air escaping when listening under bonnet.

Clutch checks I've done are pulling away in any gear. No misfire. Only trouble I really had was going up a steep bank and once parked car would not start for a few minutes.

Not using the car incase it gets any worse,  just waiting till I take it to a garage (if she makes it)

Any ideas before my eyes are ripped out at mechanics.

Thanks so much for any help.

It could be something as simple as a crankshaft position sensor. Having an OBD tool can be handy to read any trouble codes if presented; you can buy some cheap ELM327 WiFi ones for around £10 and a free app (or paid if you prefer) from App Store/Google Play to read codes.

Apologies it may not be of much help.

All the best. 🙂
