Ford Fiesta 2015 gearbox/clutch .. HELP

Featured Replies

Just bought a fiesta 65 plate and the 2 gear synchro was replaced/repaired after 2 days as ‘goodwill’ from the garage ... after getting the car back I travelled less than 40 miles and the clutch pedal hit the floor and smell of burning ... garage has told me that I’ve burnt the clutch out and will have to pay another £400 .. I don’t think this is right .... any ideas what they’ve done wrong as I honestly believe it’s a workmanship issue ... I’ve asked for my money back for the car and they have said No !!! Please advise

I'd be inclined to argue that the issue was present at the time of purchase.

I'm not qualified to give guidance but that's what I personally would be thinking in your situation.

Good luck with it. Hope you get it sorted

clutch pedal hitting the floor and burning out a clutch are not the same. if you burnt out the clutch, the pedal would still feel the same but the clutch would slip (when you have your foot off the clutch pedal the car would behave like your foot was on it).

if they have repaired a synchro they would have to have taken the gearbox out (the clutch is between engine and gearbox and the clutch release bearing/slave cylinder is fixed to the gearbox). Sounds to me more like they did something wrong in the repair.
