2014 Mk 7.5 1 litre ecoboost coolant leaking

Featured Replies

Hi all

I bought my used fiesta at 22K miles. After about a month the heater wasn't working great and after checking under the bonnet, the coolant which was about midway between max and mid level when I bought it was now only just above the bottom hose.

Put some more coolant in it and took checked to see where it was leaking over next few days and it was slightly mid left. Luckily I took out an extended warranty and the Ford Garage I got it from replaced the thermal housing.

However fast forward a little over a month to now and coolant dropped to same level and heater not working again. Topped up coolant and heater back to normal. However still losing a slow coolant leak like last time. Now the garage is replacing the turbo charger. I'm quite surprised that the turbo is having to be replaced when it's now at 27K miles.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thermostat housing is known to leak, as is the expansion tank which can develop micro cracks. You cant even really see these cracks with the naked eye so have to just replace it really. Wouldn't expect that to be cracked after 5 years though.

Never heard of the turbo leaking though, it's usually the oil seals that leak.
