Ford fusion P2299 fault code cars in limp

Featured Replies

Engine in limp mode engine code p2299 it says throttle and brake position sensors should I buy both and fit or is there something else causing it any help advise would be very much apriciated many thanks

Throttle sensors are two potentiometers, and brake position sensors are two switches, so not a lot in common there....

I think I'd start by checking connectors.

No idea how easy this might be, but if easy to access or remove, you can check switch operation with a meter of some description.  For the pots an analogue meter is best, so you can see the resistance change smoothly as the meter needle sweeps - you cannot detect this with a DVM.

Hi,with reference to your problem of going into limp mode.I had a problem with my 53 plate 1.4 Duratec when the  engine started to suddenly go into limp mode and EAC displayed on the dash.If I turned the ignition off then the car would restart and run with no problem for a few days then go into limp mode again. My trusted garage had a look and first of all disconnected the throttle pedal and cleaned around the connector and I haven't had any problem with it since. This may not be the cause of your problem but I thought it maybe off interest.

Just to clarify my last message, the connector to the pedal it's self up under the dash.

My better halfs 1.4 did this but when it did the revs went mad and was in limp mode...the throttle body was fubar! Luckily managed to source a full 2nd hand engine and gearbox for £80 and away she went.
