8 speed automatic

Featured Replies

Hi folks having read read all of your comments about this issue I've come to the conclusion that all our early (2019)auto models have the same problem, I also think like most of you the way to prevent this is to give the gearbox the time it needs to engage and then the problem doesn't occur. Also like some of you when I'm in a situation where I'm say parking in a busy car park I turn off auto/park before I actually stop and go from d to r,I find this and giving the gearbox that extra second before taking my foot off the brake pedal does the trick and reverse is engaged without any problems.

I have a focus St Line X 1.5 ecoblue 8spd auto . Personally preferred the powershift gearbox. I know a lot of people had problems with it . I never on my last 2 focus found it a lot smoother, at least you never heard the gear change ,unlike the 8spd , I had the 2.0 Tdci last time.

Slightly off topic, but how often is the auto gearbox oil replaced on these? Thanks.

Hello everyone

I have a 2019 Ecoblue 1.5 focus sw with 8 speed automatic transmission, 140.000 km. I see a bounce on tachometer while driving constant speed. I see same problem while cruise control on and off. It seem transmission is not stable at a gear, it tries down shift periodically and returns back. Service says there is wear inside transmission and should be repaired or changed. Any experiences on similar issue?

There is a software update for the 8 speed auto for the PCM. After the update the gearbox is very smooth and changes much quicker between R and D. I love it more then ever. So next time you take your car for service ask them to do the PCM/TCM software updates.

I havera a 2021 \ 22 Model with eight speed gearbox.

Several times now , when selecting reverse gear i get a jolting and a terrible noise from gearbox and the whole car seems to lurch as it tries to engage the gear.

it seems worse if the car has been on a motorway

the other day after a car wash the car was in drive and it would not shift from 2nd gear. i had to turn to N and then back to drive

i have taken it to ford dealers here in france and they refuse to take it into workshops

if i cannot demonstrate the problem.

its under warranty as it 18 months old.  i bought it with 900 miles from an internet company and the dealers say as it was not bought from a dealer by me , ford france wont honour warranty

i dont know what to do

Get in touch with Ford of France Customer Services dept. and complain.

They will make the dealer look at the car and investigate

I know MK4s suffer with low battery issues and auto gearboxes need full power,

Thanks I know youre right, Sadly I have been a thorn in Ford France side, as i asked them to make an appointment with a local garage and tel tell them they were monitoring it and they refused. ITs so bad that this huge dealership, the service manager said to me last month, for an appointment next week, that i had to promise to pay for the investigation, as he would be in trouble with his Boss, as they will not be paid by Ford France. So i have signed an agreement to pay. If they find a fault I have to go to the City in Brittany to take it to another Garage , which is not a franchaise. unless i pay for the repairs, which i am not going to do. I have tried shaming them on Twitter, but they have thick skin
