Radio Removal

Featured Replies

Good Morning All,

Having recently purchased a ford fiesta 1.6 tdci just to get to work and back but having no radio is starting to do my nut in now.

I have scoured the internet and forums but only seem to get things about these removal keys which unfortunately does not work for me

I think the previous owner has had a go and possibly trying to remove this previously and kind of made a mess I ordered some removal keys from eBay they come and still no luck , no matter which way I try angling etc still nothing , I am at the point of going Rambo on it , is there another way I can possibly remove the radio without having to do this anyone can think of ?

The radio is the Ford CD6000

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks again

If the keys aren't locking into place the teeth inside may be bent.
Try something longer and wider, in the past I've used steak knives and they worked a treat.
Sounds strange but it works.

I have had trouble with getting these out. some of the removal tools are just too weak and bend. so the knives are better from that respect but have problems because you don't know how far to push it in, if push in too far you can't release the catch. it helps if you can see ne of these radios out of a car to understand how the catch works and the optimum point to lever on.

I suppose if you lay the proper tool on the knife it might give some idea of how far to push knife in.

I have photos of the mechanisms somewhere.
I'll see if I can locate them and post them up later.

Had the same problem yesterday trying to remove a 6000 radio.keys are quite flimsy metal, turned into a two man job to eventually get it out.
