Fiesta Wipers Park where they like

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have an 06 fiesta style 1.4. The problem is that the front wipers stop as soon as I turn them off( they don’t return to the bottom of the screen). Also when I have them on intermittent, they will go up then pause when they’re vertical then a second or two later return then pause (as they should) at the bottom then sometimes even randomly pausing in the centre of the screen. I don’t know what the prob is but I can say that this phenomena started last year when there was a lot of frost /snow on the windscreen. There are no other electrical issues with the car. Anyone any ideas?

I know how the self park mechanism works within old wiper motors but I don't know if more modern ones do it in a more complex way. First thing I would do is check the wiring connector on the wiper motor. if it is done in the old way within the motor unit then there is a live wire which is linked to the wiper switch, and another live wire linked to the ignition live, this wire gives the power the motor to return to the parked position, when it gets to the parked position the contacts in the parking mechanism in the motor separate and the motor stops, until it next receives power through the wiper switch.
