St line mk8 oil life

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My ST Line MK8 140ps has now hit 1000 miles. Oil life is at 94%. Is that normal for that milage? I take it the percentage equals the amount of oil you have left.

Thanks for any advice. 👍😉

the percentage equals the life of the oil before its time to change it , it is advised that when you hit 15% at least plan for an oil change, and under no circumstances you leave it till 0% 🙂 so its not the amount of oil you have but its the life of the oil , as you drive oil quality degrade until you change it , so that meter helps you anticipate when to change oil 🙂 and I see its normal to be 94% after 1000 miles, I usually lose around 6% every 1000 km, so I think that's normal 🙂

Yep that’s normal.

The percentage isn’t an indicator of oil level - it’s the oil life so more to do with its condition based on how you drive. Manual suggests getting it changed when you approach 5% - others including myself get it changed at 9,000 regardless of the indicator or just get it changed at 18000
