Engine swap

Featured Replies

I would like to replace my 1.4l duratec motor with the 1.6l. I want would like to know what everything needs to change during the conversion and if the ecu setup is compatible on the 1.4l

Some work needed here, but got to ask you.... Why go for a 1.6 ? You wanting it to go faster I presume ? Changing from a 1.4 to 1.6 will seriously effect your insurance as you've modified the engine and most insurers will throw a hefty premium at you...... That's if you tell your insurance company that is!!

and if you don't tell the insurance company you are, in effect, uninsured.

The ECU isn't compatible, get the ECU/clocks/immob set from the donor car.  As above though, it's not worth doing, be cheaper to buy an ST, let alone a measly 1.6!

Hi.

If you have any issues with insurance at all for this type of conversion then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.
