Android Auto Issues

Featured Replies

Been trying out the Android auto system and have a few questions that hopefully somebody can answer.

Should I be able to use it via bluetooth from My Samsung Galaxy phone, it only seems to work if I plug it in via a cable?

Tried to use Waze for navigation but when I click on the option on the Cars screen it says "Looks like you haven't used this app before and need to set it up, click on the waze icon on your phone and follow setup options. When I click on the Waze icon on the phone as suggested nothing happens, the icon expands a little then just leaves me on the same Icon page of my phone. I have tried reinstalling the app on the phone but still the same.  Google maps works Ok though.

Once I'm in Android auto can I still use the Cars inbuilt radio whilst using google maps/waze for navigation?  I couldn't see how to do that if it's possible.

I clicked on the headphones icon on the android auto screen in car and it gives me an option for BBC iPlayer radio but when I tried that it just says service unavailable, but no reason given.

Next I tried the Google voice assistant via the cars voice button on the wheel, and tried the Command "Play Some music" it then tries to launch YouTube Audio but then says I need to enter my YouTube account details but doesn't give me anywhere to type them?

REGISTER WITH WAZE ETC AND THEN GO OUT TO YOUR CAR.

YES YOU CAN, YOU NEED TO SELECT 'EXIT AA' ON THE CARS SCREEN AMD IT WILL TAKE YOU TO THE FORD HOMESCREEN AND YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR AUDIO INPUT TO FM\DAB. THEN JUST PRESS AA TO GO BACK TO YOU ANDROID AUTO. OR USE TUNEIN RADIO ON AA.

IN ANDROID AUTO SETTINGS IN THE PHONE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR AUDIO DEFAULT TO SPOTIFY OR AMAZON MUSIC, WHAT EVER ONE YOU USE. IM SURE YOUTUBE AUDIO DOESNT WORK.

Sorry to answer in uppercase, it just makes it easier for you to see it.

I have replied inline with your original questions so it's easier for you, and me while I was typing lol

Ok Thanks for info , I'll try the waze thing tomorrow.

If I can get the Cars radio to work as you suggest I'll use that as I don't have Spotify or any other music streaming service. I just prefer to use the radio, doesn't use my phone data either.

I was just trying the BBC iPlayer option to see if I could get some music whilst on Google maps and in case I couldn't use the cars radio.

Car radio will defo work, if you can’t figure it out then I’ll do a quick video for you

Got waze and the radio working thanks. You were right I had to setup waze with the phone unplugged from the car then it worked fine.

Have also go my sync 3 radio working, might have to switch it off again soon though, Christmas tunes are starting to creep in. Bah Humbug!

Glad to be of help [emoji846]
