12,000 Miles And 3 New Tyres!

Featured Replies

What the hell?

The car is a year old and vospers just rang and said when they did the safe and legal check my tyres are on 2mm! I got all my boy racer wheel spinning out the way with my first car so that isnt the reason! Are they just !Removed! tyres?

Thats £150 gone :(

What tyres and what car? I know the hankooks supplied on the titaniums are crap! Will be lucky to see 10000 out of mine

I have Hankooks on my Zetec s and have covered 22,000 miles and a reckon will get 2000 more from the fronts Backs have about 4mm left

was going to put hankooks back on when there scrubbed

Hankooks are crap. At the old Waitrose store I worked at the two '09 plate Ford Transits they had had some Hankooks on them. Barely got to 7,000 miles before they needed replacing.

Sounds a bit of a raw deal. The rears on my 07 Focus are Conti Sport 2 and they have covered just under 40k miles and still have a few k left in them! The old fronts were on 22k before one side got a puncture and the tyre place reckoned that they otherwise had 5-6k left in them.

On my 10' plate Zetec S it comes with potenza(sp?) tires, anyone else got these, what are they like for wear and tear, had alook on the internet and there about 100+ each!

Agree with you mate

Ive got the 1.6 diesel,15k on the clock and the fronts are looking good for another 7k.

The backs should make 36k .

Im sure i have Hankooks on my Zetec and they seam to be crap!

Turns out it needs 2 front tyres not a back as well... stupid lady!

Still dont believe that a set of front tyres should only last 12k!

Get a second opinion mate,go to any tyre place and ask for a free tyre report.

On my first service the tyre report from ford was

front

4-4-4

4-5-4

Back

5-6-5

5-6-5

Legal limit is 1.7

What figures are they telling you?

My local ford garage have a habit of saying

"your tyres/brakes will need replacing before the next service, shall we do them now?"

They are telling the truth, they are saying they wont last another 12000 miles, but they may well last 10,000 miles!

I got 25000 out of the Hankooks on my Mondeo.

I have the Pirelli P Zeros on the Fiesta and need two new front after 13000 miles. They wear is uneven, totally bald on the inside. The tracking seems way out..

I've got Bridgestone Potenza's on my ZS, now need replacing @21k. There are no V rated extra load tyres available at the moment in the UK. I have tried to get W rated but these are proving just as difficult to get. Have settled on Yokohama Prada 2's fully fitted for £77 each, don;t think they will do 20k though.

Thanks for your help!

They are saying 3-3-2 on both front.

6-6-6 on the backs.

Dont really want to spend £100 on tyres at the moment!

I will ring Pro Tyre and see if they can give me a second opinion :)

Just get a tread depth gauge and check them. When I had my Golf GTI before my Fiesta they tried to tell me that I only had 2mm of tread left turned out I had 6mm all round. Bearing in mind at the time the car had only done 4500 miles.

could save your life 1 day cheap tires ain't good........

They are the most important parts of the car, with crap tires ANY car, no matter how good it should be will be rubbish and dangerous at times.

I know il be happy to pay 100 a corner for new ones when mine go.
