Focus mk3.5 Heated Windscreen

Featured Replies

Good evening folks

What does it take to activate the heated windscreen on a Focus 2015 born without windscreen heating?

All the wiring in front of the windscreen are there.

I've installed a new control panel, the relay R15 and the fuses F14+F16!

I activated the Heated Windscreen in the BCM module, item 58, but there's still not power to the relay?

What am I missing out on :-(

Brgds.

you need a heated screen to be fitted in the first place.

I was going to suggest that too lol, thought better of it.

Have you got the button wired up or are you pairing it with the rear? If you have a separate button then is the light coming on when you press it?

The correct windshield can't be mounted until Jan 6 2020 due to shortage at the dealer.

I got the correct control panel and the button lights up when pressed, goes off after some minutes as supposed to 😉

Problem is that I don't seem to have any output from the R15 relay when i measure it in the fuse (F14+F16) sockets!

You may find that's simply due to the fact that's there isn't a complete circuit. Without the heated windscreen elements in play the loop can't complete and as such you may not get a reading at all if the car is looking for a certain resistance to trigger the relay, etc.

Get the windscreen in and see how it goes from then, if all else is wired up and coded, I don't see any it shouldn't work! 👍

I might have got a dodgy relay 😞 I took it out and replaced it with another one and now  I can measure some output from relay R15 :-) Now I just have be patient and wait until Jan 6 to get my new windscreen mounted 😉

Good to hear that the loop works! I wasn't sure about without the screen in but thinking about it it does make sense. Hope all goes to plan!

This is a great addition to put in your car, I first experienced the heated front screen when I bought my new (then) 1990 Escort RS Turbo, and it was brilliant. Obviously a total waste for me now as this mod would cost more than my current car is worth LOL Best of luck with it...

Hello, I am having trouble with my heated front windscreen on my focus, the driver's side is working fine but the passenger side is not, only half seems to be working

You need a new windscreen, unless you are very luck and it has just become unplugged on passenger side. Use a multimeter and measure the voltage at the screen connection points.

Thank you for your help, is that the connection above the interior mirror, do the metal points need to be touching the points, I will give that a try

Take a look at this link (it's for a Focus Mk4 but the same idea) there are two sets of connections one for each half of the screen.

Thank you, sir, I have slid the plastic clips off and pushed the contact strips on and seem tighter, I will be sure to measure and test the voltage, very much appreciated

I’ve got a reading that shows up, there must be power going to the connectors

To be honest Tommi I'm surprised that you were able to test the voltage to the screen on such a warm day. On many Ford's the Heated front screens do not operate when the ambient temperature is above 7oC which can make testing the supply difficult.

Did you also test the drivers side screen to see if the voltage on both sides was the same? With the engine running at a fast idle the voltage measured should be around 12.6V
