Ford Fiesta Tuning Box

Featured Replies

Hi all I recently bought myself a tuning box from TDI Tuning in Chelmsford it was very straight forward and easy to fit. Its my first time using such thing I was looking into getting a remap but wanted something I could remove without any trace for insurance reasons (recently came off a driving ban, which we wont go into). I just wanted to ask if anyone on here has used one themselves and if you think they are good or bad, the one I have purchased claims to get my 1 litre fiesta to 170bhp without any modifications to the vehicle itself. I will leave a link below to the one I have bought. All feedback is appreciated

Edit: I’ve just been searching around the forum myself and I’ve heard alot of people mentioning blufin, I’ve have a brief look into and a small part of me is saying that I should of went with them, if anyone here does have TDI or Blufin could you let me know your thoughts on them as its too early for me to have a say as I only fitted my TDI box yesterday and drove around for about 10 minutes.

Worth trying to see if you could get a fair quote with a remap declared but given the circumstances you mention it might be a little tricky.

I’ve never been a fan of tuning boxes. I’ve always associated them with just over fueling to get more bhp output and with a tuning box promising 170bhp, I’d be concerned about reliability too. Most reputable tuning places don’t get much more than 150-160 with a remap and often if the engine can cope, then the gearbox or other transmission components start to give way.

The bluefin is a little bit more “custom” than a tuning box and you can always revert back to the original map. Though with significant investigation, you could probably find that you have remapped it anyway.

Remember that if you're using it without declaring it you're in breach of your contract with your insurers and thus invalidating your cover. And if the worst should happen, you may not be in a position to remove it without anyone noticing.

Could also put someone in a very difficult position if your cover is invalidated and you’ve just came off a driving ban. In my eyes, that’s basically uninsurable for most providers

Hi,

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you're struggling elsewhere. We can cater for any modifications or convictions.

Dan.

After reading all your comments, I decided contacted my insurance and asked them how much extra it would be if I was to use the tuning box they did tell me that they’re happy for me to use, however it would increase my premium a small amount which I was expecting, it wasnt a stupid amount so I was happy to pay it. I suppose it always best to be upfront and honest, I was expecting it to me a big increase in my premium due my driving history.
