Fiesta automatic

Featured Replies

Heya everyone, I'm possibly looking at getting my partner a ford fiesta automatic for her next car, she only passed in October, and is currently driving an 02 micra auto. Just wondering what things that I need to look out for, reliability issues, etc etc. She's not really bothered what it has options wise, although it does need to be a 5 door because of the kids. Ideally looking for around the 2010 ish reg, price range I'd say around 3-5k maybe. Cheers in advance for all help received 😁

I have a Fiesta automatic Titanium. But mines a 17 plate.   Wouldn't part with it.   The auto box is great.

At 2010 that would be a 1600cc with powershift, not the best combination TBH

2013 onwards gives you Ecoboost 100PS with powershift, a bit better but the gearbox has issues.

In all honesty I would go for a VAG product with their DSG.

My son has an IBIZA 1.0 FR DSG, it is absolutely amazing, reliable and is doing 40 MPG with just Urban driving.

The DSG has problems too.

plenty of horror stories with the powershift gearbox.

I believe if you buy a new fiesta automatic now, ford have gone back to using a Torque Converter, in spite of the worse fuel economy you always get with torque converters which have been around for 50 years.

The fact that Ford have done this suggests that they have realised they are never going to get the powershift to work reliably over a long period of time and have given up trying

I have a 2011 Titanium 1.4 auto and it is great.

This model was before they brought in that powershift and the auto box is fabulous.

MPG is a bit high but worth it for the difference in drive.

I been looking at changing for something a bit newer but always put off by the powershift horror stories.

Cheers for the replies! Is there any way I can tell if it has powershift or a torque converter box? All she really wants is something that is reliable, and safe for the kids, still can't believe that the 17yr old micra passed its mot with no advisories mind, that's why she's still driving it. Just want her to have the luxury of electric windows, ac and central locking lmao 🤣

No doubt someone will come along and correct me but I'm pretty certain that the Mk7, up until 2012 has the 1.4 standard auto box.
The Powershift came in with the Mk 7.5 in 2012.

You should be able to find a 1.4 auto Titanium, with all the refinements you are asking for, within your budget.

Funnily enough, I still have a July 2011 brochure from when my Mrs got her Mk 7 1.25. The only auto option shown at that time is a 1.4 96ps with 4 speed "Durashift" auto. Found this review from 2009:
