HELP

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

recently bought 2009 Focus 1.6Tdci.

unfortunatly we have an issue with the car only couple days after buying it.

Error codes

P0487-P0488-P0490-P2141

they are all related to the EGR valve but we changed the EGR valve but same error codes keep appearing.

no mechanic we talk to can agree on the exact problem

one says it’s the DPF is blocked, other mechanic says ECI needs to be remapped, next days it’s a wiring issue and last mechanic said he has no idea.

does anyone have had this issue before ?

my fiancée has only bought the car and it’s driving us crazy. We don’t just want to throw munny at mechanics seems knowbody can agree on the issue.

all help is greatly appreciated

thank you

Most of those codes aren't for the EGR valve, they're for the air doser which works in conjuction with the EGR.  It's often called a diesel throttle body but that's not really an accurate name.

It's in the boost piping on the left hand side of the engine as you look at it and looks something like this:

If you've only just purchased the car, take it back to the seller and get them to fix it.
