Ford Focus Titanium 1.0 EcoBoost 2018- MK4

Hi All,

I have been wondering if it's only my brand new focus doing this.

1st Problem

I have been stuck in traffic once because my clutch wouldnt engage or disengage for me to put it into and out of gear.

First, it wouldn't go into any of the gears while the clutch was depressed. So then I switched the engine off, depressed the clutch put it into 1st gear and kept my foot depressed. Once I turned the engine on, it would judder forward even though my foot was on the clutch. It didn't matter if it was depressed or not, it was like having the car in the 1st gear and turning the ignition on without depressing the clutch.

This happened about 2 weeks ago. I was stuck on the A10 for a good 15 mins. All I done was kept on pumping the clutch, turned it on and it was fine...

Today, it was difficult to get it into the 1st gear but with a tiny bit force it felt like the gear popped in and since then it's been fine. (Only happened 1 off)

Anyone got an idea why this is happening? All fluids are fine and clutch feels fine.

2nd Problem

When the wheels are fully locked to only to the right, when I accelerate very slowly I can hear a quiet knocking noise (knocks about 3-4 times) then it's fine. It doesn't knock when the wheels are straight and I'm driving, turning around bends etc. Only when it's stationery it happens.

Hi,

Sounds like a pressure plate in regards to the changing gears issue.

As for the knocking that would normally be driveshaft needing greasing up or other issue, like loose bolt to hubs.

As this is only 2018 you shouldn't really be facing these issue unless high mileage or purchased damage repaired.

Best to also make sure all wheels Lug nuts are on tight in case you had some work recently.

Since I've bought the car it's always had issues i.e. electrical issues and recently it's been giving me mechanical issues. Dealer kept rejecting the vehicle.

I've just read someone elses post about the same car having gear issues and the ford mechanics must of changed the clutch and master cylinder under warranty luckily.

I'm going to take it to ford today and see what they say.

Thankyou for the reply

I've had make a booking to 25/03/2020... I hope they do under warranty, I paid all that money for a "brand new car".

I took the car to my own mechanic to get the knocking sound checked out. Everything looked perfect. It's odd, I'll get them to check that out also.

New car and it's already having mechanical issues.

I'll keep you guys updated as I go along, let me know if you have any issues with yours.

Kind regards
