Aftermarket DRL/Indicator Fog Surround

Featured Replies

Our son has purchased this kit https://www.diversionautomotive.com/collections/ford-fiesta-mk7-7-5-2008-2017/products/113-ford-fiesta-fog-light-drls-and-indicators looks good on the sites pics.

However what he didn't realise was that they need to be actually wired in ie NOT Plug and Play, why they couldn't spend a wee bit more and make it as far as possible Plug and Play? Would have been quite simple I would imagine, but I digress.

The kit came with NO fitting instructions no wiring diagram even but he/we think we have sussed out which wire does what.

Basically it's a permanent live, an earth and a switched live at one end, and on either side at the fog lamp end is a white wire(DRL) and a yellow or orange wire(Indicator) he's also ordered piggyback fuses for the 2 live feeds, but they aren't here yet.

So the question is does anyone know what engine bay fuses are permanent live and switched to feed into and whats the best way to get connections at the light end? Looking at the wires going into the light socket there doesn't look like a lot of room for splicing into etc I would guess that he will have to pull back the sheathing a fair bit to allow a safe splice. Not particularly impressed with Scothblocks etc so was looking for a neater/safer way

Probably not much use but I found this....

Cheers @Jonro2009 yeah, we've kinda figured out what wire does what, was looking for an idea of what live feeds to plug in to, and any tips on splicing etc into indicator wires etc safely.

I've found that scotchlock and Tpiece connectors do not work reliably on such thin wires so I always steer clear of them.

Depending on what room you have you could use terminal connectors, but you need a bit of wire to play with ideally.

Soldering is your best option but I doubt you will have the access for that, so I'd use terminal connectors - maybe just one per wire and twist the 3 strands together and put them under the same screw if that makes sense
