2007 Focus CC3 Roof Creaking

Featured Replies

Hello Folks.

This is my first time on here to place a post, and hope that there is likely to be some knowledge on here that may help.

As per title, the vehicle is a CC3, and taken delivery of this fairly recently, but there is something that is spoiling the drive on days with the roof in the closed position.

Small road surface undulations as well as potholes etc are making multiple creaking noises on the roof internals. Has anybody else come across this and found a fix ?

I am reluctant to spray any kind of lubricant without knowing the long term ouctcome of damaging buffers or indeed allowing excess lube to spoil the roof lining.

Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Hi everybody, and a BIG THANK You for such a warm welcome to this group, not to mention the level of interest expressed in my question regarding roof creak on my focus CC3.

Thankfully, with this level of assistance and informative help, I have looked for and found a considerably better group who actually communicate with eachother, Yes & not only that, but they actually provide assistance and advice as well as services for some of the more horrid repairs some of these vehicles require. I am suprised that even if nobody knows the answer, somebody may offered something in terms of a reply - but nothing has happened. So before the year is out, I decided to offer up a BIG THANKS for all the lack of help provided by being a paid member of the club here, and will mostly decline to subscribe here again.

Continue and enjoy such ignorence folks amongst yourselves.

Hey buddy, ever thought that no one else has come across this issue? Oh well, your contribution is much appreciated as your sarcastic temper tantrum made me smile. I just hope Santa is good to you otherwise I'm sure there will be hell to pay  🤣

If you'd posted a thread in the 'Welcome' section you would have at least got a welcome from Dezwez...  I tend to keep out of there to avoid scaring off newbies. :whistling:

I have no idea if I read your original post back in April, probably not, but it's one of the few things on a Mk2 Focus that I don't have experience of.  We rarely get any CC owners on here so our knowledge of them is pretty limited overall.

That said, I do usually try to offer some sort of reply to unanswered threads, especially for new members.  I do apologise for not doing that this time, but probably would have done if you'd bumped the thread again after first posting it, I only check new posts so don't see any threads that slip down the list while I'm not on here.

Would you like to let us know what the solution was to the creaking?  It may help others searching in future.

Lastly, being a paid member gets you Halfords discount, so even if you don't come back on here, it wasn't totally wasted.

Santa will be bricking it, trying to creep over to his chimney without making the roof creak!

I didnt see this post back in April. I had A CC3 with this issue a couple of years back. To be honest I found out the answer to this on Google. Usaully the reason it creaks is because the joints need lubricating every so often. Normally done when having the yearly service.

I really dont know why you felt teh need to post such A sarcastic post. I would of just moved on and like you say, you managed to find the answer else were anyway.

Anyway, hope you and your family have A lovely xmas and are safe.
