Led Drl's dim on just ignition, but go too bright when turn lights on

Featured Replies

Please help. Fiesta mk7.5 2014 1.25 euro with halogen drl headlights. My son hit a lamp post, damaged n/s headlight. Bought another one, not realising it had the LED drl's. Looked odd so bought a matching LED drl for o/s. However when fitted and plugged in, turn ignition on and the LED drl's are both dim, switch the side lights on, or the main lights, and the led drl's are brighter than high beam, so obviously illegal on a night. Do I need to buy something or change wiring to make them work correctly. Thanks

They need to be programmed into the car

Any ford dealer or garage with access to Ford IDS can do this

Alternatively the freely available Forscan software can do this with a cheap ELM adapter off of eBay (or if your lucky someone in your area on the forum might chime in and offer to help)

Hello @liamstears. Do you have any guide or picture to check? I am facing similar issue. One headlight is changed and the drl with new one not working properly.

I don't know much but I'll try to help, no guides or pictures I'm afraid

Are both headlights DRL? Why did you have to replace one headlight?

Yes both of them DRL. One of my headlightwas broken, so I found one used headlight. Normal lights are working normally, but new one’s drl up when I unlock the car. But after started the car, only old DRL is working. I am wondering if I change DRL settings to None in forscan and after that change it back, will it help? How do you guys fix that dim problem ? Maybe if I follow those steps, it helps me fix it. Thanks.

How was the original one broken? If replaced with exactly the same type of headlight it should just work, the fact that it's not makes me wonder if the broken headlight caused other damage so please give as much information of possible

Also please post pictures or video of how they are working now...

I had an small accident so headlight glass was broken, so I bought new one exactly the same. But some guy told me that you need to identy the new DRL otherwise it is not going to work properly.
I added the pictures below. First one when I unlock the car, both DRL is working just fine. But when I started the car it looks like second picture. Old headlight continue to work but new one is getting off.

Strange, you could use Forscan to set lights to normal then change them back to DRL buy I don't think this will help

I think you have a faulty headlight

Can't you test with your old light or is it too damaged to do a DRL test?

Okey I will try with forscan. And it is normally working with old one. If forscan not solve the issue I will change DRL module from old one to new one. Thanks for your help dear.
