What does this connector do?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Found this connector in my mk2 2007 Focus hatch, I now the orange one is a 12v feed but what does the blue and brown wire with the black connector do?

many thanks

These connectors are for the optional 12 Volt power socket in the boot. The orange wire is for the 12 Volt power to the power socket. The blue/brown wire is for illumination of the power socket (in most cases however this wire is not powered at all). The ground wire of the 12 Volt power socket is missing.

Ford used to sell a kit that contained the ground wire and the 12 Volt power socket. However a few Years after production of the MK2.5 stopped Ford stopped supplying the kit.

On closer inspection, it looks as if this brown and blue wire is coming from my parking sensor module? Would this still indicate an earth cable?
