New Focus ST3 MK3.5 2018 plate, what Forscan options are worth activating?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I joined this forum 5 years ago when I had a MKIII 1.6 Focus 2012 plate that had a very basic infotainment system, no sync etc just an info display. Then I wanted something faster so went for a Mazda  3 2.2L and loved the speed but was disappointed by its horrendous lack of decent bluetooth (3 second delay on voice calls and terrible voice system). I am now the proud owner of a 2018 MK3.5 Focus ST3 Auto with all bells and whistles apart from heated steering wheel. It has Sync 3 and I know there is an update already as it is on software version 2.3 Build 1709, maps version F6.1.

What Forscan options are recommended as on my last focus I activated the auto lock feature when above 5mph etc and turned off auto start/stop. I have been reading that I can get the climate to come up on the sync 3 screen but that it might only be possible to do by upgrading to an unofficial version.

Can’t  wait to pick it up Tuesday from Ford and have just spent 100 odd quid on autoglym products.

How have you managed that 😂😂. Must've bought a £60 wax or something?

Snow foam, various interior cleaners, loads of diff stuff and a a snow foam lance.

Thoughts anyone?

Damm. I guess when your purchases end up staggered as you need stuff (I only really buy one or two products at a time) you don't notice how much it all costs.

Their polar blast is a decent foam for something you can buy in-store. The polar seal is awesome for lazy people like me who don't want to bother with the whole wax-on, wax-off malarkey lol.

Only product I'm not a fan of is the tar remover. I found it very weak and the fact you don't get much of it in a bottle with no spray trigger is a turn off for me.

To make changes on Sync 3 you need to connect to APIM

There are four themes you can select:

1: Standard Ford, you have this now - White with blue icons

2: Classic Ford, as above but with a different colour for each function (Nav, Climate, Audio etc)

3: Lincoln Theme, Beige/Gold Background, Black Icons

4: GT Theme (never seen this so I don't know the difference)

You can change Sync 3 so that it displays climate functions as a menu

You can add Heated seat and heated steering wheel soft buttons to the home screen

Other than the fact that you've already set up auto locking, I'm not sure what else you can do, you'll have to have a play.

There's plenty of topics on Forscan forum to give you the codes for APIM configuration and BCM etc though some are simply drop-down activation boxes, but please make sure you save the standard configuration of any module you are going to make changes in BEFORE you make any changes so you can easily set the module back to asbuilt if it all goes wrong.

Only make one change at a time and make sure everything is working OK before doing the next one (so it's easier to return to standard if something goes wrong) and write down the original code before you change it.

Thank you, so you can display the climate with 3.4 then? I didn't think it worked properly for RHD?

Not sure about 3.4 none of us are on it

Sorry I meant on 3.0, can you display climate on the screen? I thought it was only 3.4?

Apparently so, it's not activated on any of ours (wife's doesn't have climate, MK4 Focus APIM is invisible)

My daughter has the classic theme and the htd seats and htd steering wheel soft buttons activated

As a MK3 ST owner, I’d highly recommend looking at the meguiars car cleaning/care stuff. A little goes a long way and really is good stuff!

If you can, get a resonator delete done... removes the mid silencer in the exhaust. Gives the exhaust more growl, how it should have been from the factory.

Only cost me £40 at an exhaust shop and they welded the piece straight it. Doesn’t effect emissions or MOT either :)
