Looking at that picture, it would be relatively easy to undo those screws using a pair of snipe nosed pliers.

Snipe nosed?  🙂 And your car theif armed with some sort of OBD theft device is probably not carrying a set. Putting some vaseline on top of the fixings will make them very hard to remove without the right tool.

More than half of all car thefts they have the keys. You'll be safeguading against a tiny % of thefts with this to start with.

Anything that makes it harder has to be a help I suppose. A good old fashioned manual mechanical lock on the handbrake or steering wheel probably put off 99% of thieves - they are more accustomed to electroncs now than anything else.

Called snipe nose pliers because they are long and thin like a Snipe's beak.   I was a policeman for 30 years and you'd be surprised at what the professional car thief carries with him.

thanks both for replies, just haven't seen much on the market to stop obd theft!

I would get a 3d printed blanking plug and cable tie it over the OBD plug after you have poped it out of the plastic housing so its hidden out of sight. Really cant see anyone wanting to spend time looking for it if it isnt in the standard location. I went one step further on mine and re located it elsewhere and put a dummy one in its place thats no wired in.
