Focus Mk4 ST-Line - Retrofit Folding Wing Mirrors Possible???

Featured Replies

Last item I promise.

Tried searching the forum, nothing came back that I could see.

Has anyone tried to retrofit folding wing mirrors to a Mk4?

Is there capacity in the cars wiring looms or is this a no-go area as it requires all new looms?

Not a necessity, but would be nice! (Again, ex-demo car, they didn't order it with them - cheap skates)

Ta muchly!

For all the retro fitting why not trade it in for an stx ?

i actualy did this todayon my 2020 st line, think they come as standard now but they didnt in 2020.(didnt have enough money for a st line x at time of purchase)

So the other day i was thinking about this and saw that my mirrors only had 6 pins but had 8 wires going into the plug. When i looked online 8 pin is the powerfold with puddle light, so i knew the wiring was there and using asbuilt data saw the door modules are all the same (accept blis i dont know if its the same one). So i managed to find a set of 8 pin mirrors at a decent price and replaced the window switch with the one off an st line x. it was  actually realy easy to do and you do not need to remove the door card, just the surround where you pull your door shut and the piece of plastic that covers your mirror wires on the inside of the door. 3 screws for the mirror and 3 small torx for the window switch and it was done. i had to change a few things in forscan but nothing was done with the asbuilt programming, it was all done via the 'module enable/disable' section in both PDM and DDM and then in APIM, i had to select a few things including lincoln open, which is when the mirror comes out when you open the door. The switch worked straight away but for the life of me i couldn't get it to work on the key fob (the whole point of doing it!!!). So after searching the internet for an hour and searching through all the modules in forscan i could not get it to work. anyway i went to pick the kids up from school and thought about it and realised that in the IPC menu screen i had not activated mirrors.🤦‍♂️🤫 Bish, Bash, Bosh everything worked.  👍😁

Well done Rob 👍

I hope all is good now

everything is working great. This was something that i was really missing from the old car, this and dual climate control but i am not even attempting that one!

these are the only things needed and no need for any wiring.....

Driver and Passenger 8pin mirrors

window switch from a higher model for the drivers door,(st line x, titanium x etc) must have fold mirrors button.

just to help a bit a few pics...

Hi, I am attempting to do the same thing to my MK4 now. I was just wondering what you changed in Forscan I have ran into the same situation as you where the button works but the key lock and unlock doesn’t. I have double checked and auto fold mirrors is enabled in my ipc. Thanks in advance.

Genuinely can’t remember it was that long ago. but you Don’t need to change the button on the interior drivers door for it to work on your key fob. Just read through what I put up top. Sorry mate was so long ago.

From reading back. Find anything to do with mirrors in forscan under. PDM,DDM and APIM and play around. You’ll get there

Nevermind, I undid any of the changes I did in forscan then redid them and it worked. Old reliable turn it on and off again.

Just to say thanks very much for the knowledge from this thread! I managed to add powerfold mirrors to my 2019 Zetec today after an easy mechanical installation and some messing around with Forscan. I was about to give up when I found this topic and realised I hadn't enabled the settings in the PDM & DDM.

Further to this, I managed to get the powerfold mirrors working okay, but then my electric windows stopped working! I had persistent DTCs that wouldn't clear on both the DDM and PDM modules -

 ===PDM DTC U2100:00-0B===
Code: U2100 - Initial Configuration Not Complete

and

===PDM DTC P160C:48-0B===
Code: P160C - Control Module Software Performance

I've reverted the mirror changes, and the DTCs have cleared with windows working. Has anyone got a working asbuilt they could share that I can compare?

I was able to obtain an asbuilt for a vehicle with powerfolds and compared the file, modified my asbuilt and got everything working once I cleared the fault codes!
