EcoBoost Engine Malfunction

Featured Replies

Hey,

I got an 'Engine malfunction Service now' message. The symptoms are:

  •  Car drives as normal but with a loss of power, no 'oomph' - which makes me think it's the turbo?
  •  Auto start-stop disabled (and cannot be turned on)

I used FORScan to check for error codes and some came up, but I'm not sure what these mean, or if they are linked!

I've attached some pics as I know there are a lot of very mechanically-minded people on here, and likely others who have experienced something similar.

I pay for Ford Protect warranty, which has been invaluable before so will try to get the car booked in this coming week - but any advice greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Liam

I'm going to guess that was on a boost hose...so you're now losing boost somewhere, which would explain the lack of power and MAP sensor fault code.

Hmm...thank you! Reckon it’s worth me trying to see where it’s come from and replacing it? Car booked in with Ford on Monday but if I can sort it cheaply before then myself...😬

Yeah, just follow the boost pipes around and you should find the loose one easily enough!  As long as it's an accessible one it'll only take seconds to fit a new jubilee clip.

Fab that’s really helpful, thank you. Will give it a go and report back!

Well thank you very much indeed, that seems to all be working now! Most likely saved me a bob or two😀

Still one fault code remains: U0257, do you know if that is something else?

U codes about losing communication are common even on brand new cars

It's nothing to worry about if they don't trigger a warning or light on the dash and if you aren't experiencing other problems.

Make sure the hose clip tail is clear so it doesn't chaff.

Nice one!

As above though, bend or turn that clip as it looks like it'll rub through the coolant pipe above it!

Not sure about the U fault, are you having any issues with the dash at all?  If not you can just ignore it.

Done, thanks everyone! Fingers crossed it’ll be reet now, and I’ll just ignore that other fault code aha
