can i upgrade standard radio to sat nab version without wiring or adding parts?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2015 Ford foucs. The radio unit is just the standard radio version as seen in thw 1st picture.

I have found a seller who is selling a sat nav version out of another 2015 focus, pictures attached.

So I'm wondering, is it as simple as removing the old standard version amd fitting the new sat nav version? Our will the wiring and GPS for sat nav and so on not be the same. Thanks.

Up!

You currently have a SYNC 1.1 based audio system. The 2015  8-Inch SatNav system is SYNC 2 based.

The wiring between the SYNC 1.1 and SYNC 2 system is completely different. You either have to buy or build an adapter wiring harness or replace the complete dashboard wiring harness.

The SYNC 2 system uses the GPSM module for GPS reception. SYNC 1.1 vehicles are only equipped with a GPSM module if the car has Emergency Assistance

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking it wasn't just as simple as remove and plug in new 1. I may look into a after market andriod radio now. It will almost be easier to add 1 off them than just the stanard 2 sync radio. Thanks again.
