can I fit a 2019 1.0 ecotec engine to a 2015 car as my engine blew

Featured Replies

my 2015 1.0 fiesta ecotec engine suffered a massive oil pressure failure scrapping the engine, I have the chance of a 2019 engine but am worried that this will fit, can anyone advise please.

Do you mean 1 litre ecoboost engine? (3 cylinder turbo), depends if it's the new type of 1 litre as they have a slightly different set up and cylinder deactivation. I don't know if the PCM would accept this engine or put lots of DTCs in.

Thanks for the reply, thats the engine, if this is the case when its fitted is it a problem that can be overcome

I suppose anything is possible but I'm not sure what will have to be done.

I think we managed to work out on another thread that the revised engine (chain cam, cylinder deactivation etc) seems to have been fitted from earlier this year, so a 2019 would most probably be the old (wet belt version). Should be easy enough to tell which as they look quite different.

The "old" engine did get gpf from mid-2018, though. Link to the thread referred to:
