Front end of Fiesta clunk/bang/rattle noise ??

Featured Replies

Our 1.4 2010 Fiesta has been making a noise, over the past year I'm hearing a clunk/bang/clunk/rattle/clunk noise, this is only on the front right hand side, I've changed the link arms, these was pretty well worn and thought it was them, but alas I still hear this awful noise. It only makes the noise over rough ground, on smooth roads it's silent.

Suspension springs are fine.

Only other ideas is it's the rubber bushes for the anti roll bars or the driveshaft or engine mount or lower suspension wishbone bushes.

Has anyone on the forum encountered this noise ?

I think it's the ball joint on the lower wishbone ? So instead of all the messing I'm going to replace the whole wishbone, rear axle bushes was tattered, so the front ain't going to be no better.

A better video!

Does sound likely.  I had a knocking bottom ball joint on a Mk6, rough roads were horrendous!

You should be able to see the movement with a prybar before shelling out on new wishbones.

That sounds like a good idea.

This video shows how bad things can get!

Took the wheel off this morning! Yep loads of play in that ball joint and knocks 💀

I can firmly say these are shot, ordered brand new wishbones & pinch bolts, going to do both sides 💪 👀 😉

Son changed both wishbones this morning, the driverside was horrendous and looked like it was ready to drop to bits.

One inner large bush which connects to the chassis had also failed, loose infact!

Our 10 plate Fiesta has only done just over 50,000 miles, didn't expect to see such worn parts.

If anyone else has got a knock/rattle knock whilst on rough ground or turning, then get the noise looked at, most likely be the ball joint under the suspension.
