Focus mk2 towbar problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I own a mk2 focus 2007 (reg no. R20 SJW). It's a 1.8tdci sport hatchback.

The problem I have is that I need a towbar for it. I purchased one for the exact year and body style but came to fit it and it's a completely different ? I have checked on various towbar suppliers website's and it all points to the one I have bought, this is obviously not right.

The one I need looks like it should bolt directly onto the original bumper support carrier brackets but everything I lookup suggests the wrong type fitment, that slide into the chassis leg and bolt in, but that's the one I have.

Have any of you had any of the same issues? If so what was your solution?

Thanks for your time guy's, Gary

Hi Gary. I think all the towbars do fit into your chassis. I have fitted towbars on my mk1 focus estate and my mk3 estate and both fitted into the chassis. On the mk3 I had to remove and discard the crash bar for the tow bar to fit.

Same here on my Mk2 - you have to remove the crash bar and slide the towbar support onto the chassis and bolt through it.  A bit fiddly to get the holes to all line up but easy enough to do on your own.
