Fiesta Mk7 (2011) Front side/parking lights not working

Featured Replies

Hi all, I recently took my Mk7 (2011) ford fiesta for an MOT and got a call to say it had failed due to the nearside front parking light not working. Halfords (I know they're not the best, but I needed a quick MOT and they could book me in soonest) got an autoelectrician to look at it, but couldn't find any issues (still set me back £65). I've had the car back and tried replacing the bulb myself but no luck. I've checked over the cables and everything looks healthy. Whilst checking it over I noticed the other front side light is very tempramental too, yesterday it was working and this morning I can't get it to turn on. All other lights are absolutely fine. Any ideas as to what it could be? Halfords suggested I need to have the internal computer reset and replaced (very expensive!) but I haven't had any warnings or other issues to suggest an electrical fault.

Any suggestions on what I can try/what might be causing the issue would be really appreciated!

This depends how desperate you are to get it fixed quickly to pass mot and it is a bodge. Assuming taillights work. Tap into tail light cable and run a wire from there to each front sidelight.  Disconnecting original front sidelight wires. They are usually only 5 watt bulbs so it shouldn’t overload anything I would think. You would need to find where taillight wire comes from fuse box . You could do it from the taillights but that needs more wire and routing it. Getting wire through bulkhead will be biggest headache. Less than a fiver in materials. No one wants to pay loads of money for replacing ‘ computer’ and I could easily see you paying loads more money and not resolving it.
