Bonnet latch tab broken

Featured Replies

Went to top up some screenwash earlier and upon opening the bonnet I discovered the lever pull tab thing that pops out to turn the latch has broken. Now its in the popped position and I can't open or close it down properly.

I can't see far enough down the gap where the tab came out to know which direction to push the latch to release the bonnet.

Anyone know how I can just temporarily get the latch lever to move so I can at least secure the bonnet enough to drive? I'm worried about the security of the car too if someone wants to poke a screwdriver into to try to prise the bonnet open and take stuff.

On the end of the piece of plastic is a little eyelet which pops on the latch  I take it you can’t open the bonnet if not pull the grill forward from the bottom and it will detach from the bumper and reach up and push the lever forward then the bonnet will full open . Tie a piece of string to the lever on the latch and then poke thru the grill after you put the grill back in place . The bonnet will now slam shut and the string will enable you to open the bonnet . 1250328 is the plastic lever can’t remember how much it is these days . Obv if your parking on a street then don’t leave the string showing

I can't open it no, I did poke the leveller inside and it did push the latch to open it but I decided to reopen the bonnet again to see if I could repeat it (when I should really have ought to have just left it secured down). After 30 minutes of trying to do it again I gave up and now its stuck on the popped position.

Is this the catch release thing?

It's parked on my driveway so should be enough to keep it out of sight from most opportunists, from first walk-by its not blindingly obviously there's a problem with the bonnet.

Yep that’s it , the lever has to be pulled to open and the replacement just pushes on and I think there’s a screw on the end
